The CICP grant and what it means to us

February 8, 2012

In early January 2012, Resolution Optics was fortunate enough to be approved by the Government of Canada to receive a Canadian Innovation Commercialization Program (CICP) grant. Only ten percent of applicants across the country were successful with only a handful of those coming from Atlantic Canada. We were proud to be among those successful bids as we are a young company in a region that remains a best-kept secret in terms of innovation in the technology sector. The CICP was designed to bridge the gap for companies with pre-commercialized products by awarding contracts through due process, testing and providing feedback, providing market penetration opportunities, and providing information on doing business with the federal government.

When Resolution Optics applied for the grant, we had yet to introduce our holographic imaging technology to the open market. We had research partners at a number of institutions around the world who have helped us to develop our product line into what it is today. The support from CICP has led to a purchase of a Resolution Optics Submersible System by the Government of Canada for use by the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (BIO) in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. We are pleased to have such a range of professionals at BIO testing our product; their expertise and feedback will prove to be invaluable in future developments and expanding known applications.
